Boiler Service FAQs
How often should I have my boiler serviced?
To keep your boiler in top condition, it should be serviced every 12 months.
What is involved in a boiler service?
A gas safe / OFTEC registered engineer will visit your home to carry out the boiler service. They will inspect, check, clean and test the main components of your boiler. The boiler is tested for functionality, and the main components and parameters are altered where required. This ensures everything is working correctly and efficiently with the boiler. Problems will be spotted early, avoiding breakdowns in the future.
How long does it take to carry out a boiler service?
A gas boiler service will take around 30 minutes, and an oil boiler service will take around 1 hour.
Boiler services are easy to arrange and completed with minimum fuss but for maximum gains.
Does my boiler need servicing to keep the manufacturers warranty?
Yes, all boiler manufacturers require yearly service on the boiler and will require evidence. Please have your boiler manual on hand so our engineer can complete the service details.
What should I do before my boiler service?
Please turn your heating and hot water off for at least 2 hours before your boiler service; sometimes boilers can be too hot for our engineers.
Please find your boiler manual and hand it to the engineer. The service log should be inside the manual. We can check the previous year's data readings and add the details of your latest service.
Please clear space around your boiler. If there is a kitchen cupboard around your boiler, this might need to be taken off before the engineer arrives. The engineer will also need access to the gas meter, boiler controls, pumps, valves and radiators.
If there have been any issues with the boiler, heating, or hot water, please inform our admin staff when you make the appointment. Some minor issues, such as a cold radiator, can be addressed during a boiler service, but a broken-down boiler cannot be serviced. We may only be able to carry out a fault diagnosis if there is a boiler fault.
